Italian Interpreting Services

Professional English - Italian conference and B2B interpreting

Spoken Italian translation services delivered on-site or remotely.

Dealing with a completely foreign language and culture can be daunting.
You are afraid of being misunderstood, not being able to get your culturally-sensitive message across, or feeling not entirely confident and supported.

I’ve been there.

I have been both an interpreter and a speaker; both a cultural mediator and a company representative. Therefore, I know the importance of impeccable communication.

Based in Lecce, south of Italy, I am available to attend events and conferences in this area, where I can translate for you from English to Italian and vice versa.

You have my support with:

Remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI)

RSI

My personal life choices have taken me far away from the hustle and bustle of big cities like Rome or London (where I used to live), so over the past three years my on-site interpreting assignments have mainly taken place in my region, Puglia.

However, I love being involved in conferences, workshops, and other multilingual events happening all over the world. Hence, my offer includes Remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI), an innovative, cost-effective, and efficient technology.

RSI is proving extremely beneficial, especially for businesses and organisations who need to keep connecting and communicating internationally, but cannot meet in person or organise physical events. Not to mention the significant reduction in travel and accommodation costs! All you need is a smartphone or laptop. Nowadays, there are many platforms that can host your event and provide excellent remote IT support throughout the process.

I have successfully completed my RSI training and have hands-on experience working on Zoom as well as on bespoke platforms, such as Kudo, Voiceboxer, QuaQua, etc. And I am more than happy to explore new ones!

On-site Italian interpreting services

Interpreting RSI

Simultaneous interpreting

I interpret the speaker’s speech in real time, working from a soundproof booth with a microphone and a set of headphones. Please note: you will need two interpreters taking shifts.

This mode is perfect if you are organising a large international event in Italy and some or all of your delegates require translation into their mother tongue.

Chuchotage

Similar to simultaneous interpreting, it is preferable for smaller groups and bilateral meetings. I whisper my real-time translation while sitting alongside the participants.

Consecutive interpreting

I sit close to the speaker, take notes, or memorise the speech and interpret as soon as the speaker has finished. This mode is ideal if you are organising a small event with only one foreign speaker, such as a book presentation, an interview, a technical meeting, etc.

Liaison interpreting

Liaison or B2B interpreting is recommended for business negotiations, field trips, trade fair meetings or for any other bilingual interaction between individuals who would not be able to communicate smoothly without my help. On these occasions, I am the woman in the middle. I have been providing this service particularly for cultural and tourism events: I interpret at festivals, food and wine events, educational tours, press trips, etc.

What sets me apart?

I won’t “just” relay your words from one language to another and be available only during the event’s working hours.

On the contrary, I will thoroughly and extensively prepare for the event by researching the subject matter, any relevant vocabulary, and the context in which the event is taking place.

Invest in me and I will invest in you.

Interpreting FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions

Interpreting FAQ

1. I’d like to use your interpreting services! How can we work together?

Here is the 4-step process I follow:
1. Get in touch here and tell me all about your event (dates, type of event, language combination needed, any preparatory material, purpose of the event, etc.). Having a detailed brief is crucial for me to deliver a seamless interpreting service.
2. I will put together and send you a tailor-made quote asap.
3. Once you give me the green light, I will go ahead and start preparing for your event. In the meantime, you can gather and send me any other details I might need in order for your event to run as smoothly as possible (presentations, speakers’ names, full schedule, on-site contacts, etc.).
4. I will arrive at the venue a few minutes earlier to allow for any briefing or IT check and I will happily contribute to the success of your event.

2. What are your interpreting fields of expertise?

I specialise in English-Italian interpreting in the business, travel & tourism, wine & food, academic, cultural, international affairs, beauty & fashion sectors.

3. How much does interpreting cost?

Several factors affect the quote for an interpreting assignment (language combination, event topic, schedule and duration, availability of preparatory material, etc.). Each event is different and deserves particular attention and extensive preparation. Contact me to receive a personalised quote.

4. Are you a qualified interpreter?

Yes, I am. I hold an MA in Conference Interpreting from SSLMIT (Translation and Interpreting School) in Forlì, Italy. I also hold a BA (Hons) in Intercultural and Linguistic Mediation from the same university and have studied Translation and Linguistics at UCL London. I have experience working as a conference and liaison interpreter across Italy and the UK. In addition, I am an Associate Member of AITI (Italian Association of Translators and Interpreters), and I am a KUDO certified interpreter.

5. What are your terms and conditions?

Along with your personalised quote, you will also receive the terms and conditions I apply and all the details you need to make your payment.
